Trail Ridge Road
Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved road in the United States, offers a scenic Colorado road trip between both YMCA of the Rockies locations, Estes Park Center and Snow Mountain Ranch.
Trail Ridge Road is a Colorado legend. Also known as US Highway 34, it offers jaw-dropping panoramic views, steep drop-offs that seem to go on forever and tons of mountain terrain inhabited by elk, moose and much more.
This road is the perfect way to experience BOTH locations of YMCA of the Rockies. The eastern entrance of the road is right near Estes Park Center, taking you through Rocky Mountain National Park. There are plenty of places to stop and watch the wildlife, including Horseshoe Park, Rainbow Curve and Beaver Meadows. On the west end of the road is the town of Grand Lake, only a half hour drive from Snow Mountain Ranch. On the way, you’ll drive over the Continental Divide at Millner Pass and the beginning of the Colorado River. There’s tons to see and do along Trail Ridge Road, which we think is the best scenic road trip in Colorado.
Located in Rocky Mountain National Park, entry fees are required. An advance reservation must be made to enter Rocky Mountain National Park between the hours of 6 AM – 5 PM. Learn more about entry fees and the timed-entry reservation system on Rocky Mountain National Park’s website.
