Timelapse Tutorial

Follow along as our Family Programs Director, Donovan Colegrove, shows you how to take a time-lapse.

Ever wondered how to take landscape time-lapses? Follow along as our Family Programs Director, Donovan Colegrove, shows you how to take a time-lapse, from setting up your camera to the final edit. Along the way, he will share some useful tips learned through taking dozens of landscape time-lapses around the YMCA and Rocky Mountain National Park. In the first part, you will learn how about required equipment, finding a location, and setting up your camera. Once you have taken your time-lapse, you will learn in part two how to use photo and video editing software to take your time-lapse from photos to video. In this video, we will watch as our Family Programs Director, Donovan Colegrove, sets up a sunrise time-lapse. You will learn about the considerations that go into shooting a sunrise time-lapse, from required equipment, to shooting intervals, to timing and lighting considerations. Learn how to take your time-lapse from individual photos to final product using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Premiere. If you don’t have access to this software, you can follow along and learn the larger considerations for editing your time-lapse and exporting it into a useable format.
