Fall for Fall at Snow Mountain Ranch
August 02,
2023
Leaf peeping, wagon rides, and fireside snuggles are just a few things to do mid-week this fall!
Sweater weather, pumpkin spice, and spooky season are a few things we look forward to once we feel the warm summer air turn to cool nights as the seasons start to change. This year, make Snow Mountain Ranch your basecamp for fall adventures! If you’re looking for a peaceful place to enjoy the beauty of fall, head to Grand County during the week to beat the weekend crowds and have the mountains all to yourself. Work from the comfort of our lodge rooms or cabins and use your lunch breaks to explore the breathtaking golden leaves, and spend your evenings falling for fall. Or, take a mid-week vacation and completely disconnect from the office! Here are four ways you can unplug from your everyday activities, and connect with nature this fall at Snow Mountain Ranch!
Leaf Peeping

In our opinion, the best part of fall is the changing of the leaves! The mountains are beautiful in any season, but fall has to be our favorite. It’s such a fleeting season that it’s important to take full advantage once the aspen trees change from their typical greens, to their gorgeous yellows. At Snow Mountain Ranch, you can enjoy the beautiful colors of fall by taking a hike along 9-Mile Trail or witnessing the gorgeous cascading water at the Waterfall Trail. Pro Tip: Hit the trails early in the morning or make it a sunset mission to have the best views and to have the trail to yourself!
Fireside Snuggles

There’s nothing better than the crackle of a warm fire on a chilly fall night. Cuddle up by the fire in your cozy cabin and brew a warm beverage like tea or hot apple cider while listening to the sounds of nature outside. Or rent one of the outdoor fire rings across the Snow Mountain Ranch property and have an outdoor fire with all of your friends and family! Sit outside and gaze at the stars, and even catch a glimpse of the Milky Way if you’re lucky! Securing your spot for an outdoor fire ring is even easier on a weekday. Just call the Program department at 970-887-2152 ext. 4135 to reserve your campfire ring.
Fall Wagon Ride

While there’s plenty to enjoy on the Snow Mountain Ranch property on foot, why not try a scenic horse-drawn wagon ride? Enjoy a ride through the Snow Mountain Ranch property and peep the golden leaves of the aspens changing color. Book your ride through Rocky Mountain Stables for a true mountain experience that will make you love fall even more than you already do!
Skate Night Date Night

After a day of playing outside amongst the leaves, spend the chilly Colorado evening inside roller skating at the Kiva Center! Roller skating is making a comeback and we’re excited to say it’s a Snow Mountain staple. Grab your family, your friends, or that special someone and show off your skills! The Kiva Center offers roller skate rentals, or feel free to bring your own! Make sure to check the weekly activity guide for Kiva Center hours during your stay.
