A nature-based preschool for community members of the Estes Valley
Welcome to Beverly K. Booe Early Childhood Education Program
The philosophy of the Beverly K. Booe Early Childhood Education Program located in the Bennett Building at YMCA of the Rockies is guided by our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith. The YMCA of the Rockies is dedicated to giving people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities the opportunity to reach their full potential. At the Beverly K. Booe Early Childhood Education Program, we provide a student-centered environment that is equipped with outdoor opportunities and materials that will enhance each individual’s curiosity, empathy and development. Using play-based education, each teacher will act as a facilitator as they work alongside young explorers providing opportunities to take risks, encourage independence and use redirection through positive reinforcement. This is a safe environment where each explorer will be welcomed with open arms and where we believe conversations of empathy, care, love, respect and consent start early.
We are so excited to meet you!

Schedule Highlights:
What is circle time? Circle time provides a time for listening, developing attention span, promoting oral communication, and learning new concepts and skills. It is a time for auditory memory, sensory experiences, socialization, and a time for fun.
What Is Guided Play? Guided play refers to learning experiences that combine the child-directed nature of free play with a focus on learning outcomes and adult mentorship. Children thrive when they engage in free play, which involves active engagement and is fun, voluntary, and flexible. The art center will always be available and encouraged during this time.
Though we have scheduled time for outside, our circle time, guided play, curriculum and meal times can all be adapted and brought outside.
Outside Time. Our scheduled outside time may look like playing in our massive playground equipped with loose parts and climbing structures, a hike through our large campus along the river or a walk to the outside preschool classroom located a half block away. This will happen all year long, even in the winter months.
*Infants and toddlers will have scheduled diaper changes and bathroom breaks every two hours or upon need. Part of the Toddler curriculum and personal interest, toddlers will be encouraged to use the bathroom during diaper changes, encouraging them to learn the basic skills needed for potty training (zipping/buttoning pants/ wiping/washing hands etc.)
