Mark your calendars for April 6th, when our cabin reservations open to the general public for summer and fall dates.  If you want to book a cabin at Estes Park Center between 6/1/16–11/30/16, this is your day!  We book up quickly for dates from mid-June to mid-August and fall weekends; be sure to explore all our lodging options at both centers. As of this summer, there is a new addition to the Mootz Family Craft and Design Center at the Estes Park Center, a glass fusing section! Use colored glass to make bowls, wind chimes, plates, spoon rests, jewelry, and more! Teaching a basic introduction to glass fusing is Jo Lorimor, a professional artist. Lorimer spent the last 12 years teaching fused glass classes in La Penita, Mexico. This is her first time to the YMCA and we are glad to have her. Guests can assemble precut glass on their project, which is then fired in a kiln overnight. Different temperatures are used to fire the glass, ranging from 1380 to …

Every year, thousands of people pass through the YMCA of the Rockies and Rocky Mountain National Park to explore all of the hikes the area has to offer. In Estes Park, several stores and the YMCA of the Rockies – Estes Park Sweet Memorial building sell trail tag patches with the names of hikes in the park. There are over 100 tags and over 350 miles of hiking. Something special that the YMCA of the Rockies offers is the Hiking Club Program. The world’s most recognizable face of survival and outdoor adventure is bringing the ultimate class in self-rescue skills to Snow Mountain Ranch again this summer! This is a rare opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to learn Bear’s extreme survival techniques through “the most challenging but empowering survival courses on the planet.” Participants will learn improvised wilderness first aid, emergency shelter builds, harsh terrain navigation by day and night without a map or compass, rope skills for crossing difficult terrain, survival knife skills, fire lighting, foraging for food by setting snares and traps, and dynamic self rescue techniques in this intense, 24 hour course.
