What is YMCA of the Rockies?

YMCA of the Rockies is a diverse charitable organization dedicated to changing lives through building and strengthening relationships.  This commitment, shared by guests, staff, volunteers and donors is focused on youth development, healthy living and fostering social responsibility.

YMCA of the Rockies is made up of two year-round family resorts and conference centers – Estes Park Center and Snow Mountain Ranch, and a traditional overnight summer camp for teens, Camp Chief Ouray.  All are located in the heart of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains and offer a variety of affordable lodging options so families and groups can connect with each other and create life-long memories.

There are many reasons that guests choose to stay at one of YMCA of the Rockies’ locations.  Every year, we host and serve more than 800 family reunions, 180,000 family vacationers, 1,200 conferences, 300 military families and 2,000 Camp Chief Ouray campers.  Guests are inspired by the amazing mountain views, the fresh mountain air, the endless recreational possibilities, the wholesome Christian environment and the change of pace from hectic daily routines that allows quality time with friends and family to become their focus.

To promote youth development, YMCA of the Rockies offers day camp and overnight programs that enable kids to learn, grow and play together.  While kids are at camp, parents have time to themselves and kids have the opportunity to create healthy relationships with their counselors and peers in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere.

To promote healthy living, YMCA of the Rockies offers miles and miles of hiking, biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails on our properties.  Adventure programming, sports facilities, outdoor education and youth conferences all add to our youth development focus.  The Program Departments’ varied offerings include group and family activities to engage guests’ entire spirit, mind and body.

To promote social responsibility, YMCA of the Rockies is committed to diversity and respect for all people by utilizing more than 50,000 volunteer hours every year, hosting more than 2,500 outdoor education students to instill in them stewardship of our earth, promoting global awareness through the international trainee program and supporting the Chaplains Departments’ religious education programming for youth and adults.  Additionally, YMCA of the Rockies endeavors to operate its centers in an earth-friendly fashion with active recycling programs, sustainable architecture in new construction and active natural resource management plans.

The Y’s mission – YMCA of the Rockies puts Christian Principles into practice through programs, staff and facilities in an environment that builds healthy spirit, mind and body for all – runs strong at Estes Park Center, Snow Mountain Ranch and Camp Chief Ouray as the staff share the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith with guests on a daily basis.
